ION Orchard Singapore overview

First opened in 2009, ION Orchard is a shopping centre in Singapore, located directly above Orchard MRT station. It was previously known as Orchard Turn Development or Orchard Turn Site. Owned by Orchard Turn Developments Pte Ltd, ION Orchard is the retail portion of an integrated retail and residential development. There is also a condomiunium called The Orchard Residences right above Ion Orchard.

ION mall also has a underground linkway leading people from Orchard MRT Station directly to Tangs Plaza.

Although Orchard Turn Developments Pte Ltd is a joint venture between CapitaLand and Sun Hung Kai Properties, all purchases made in ION Orchard are not eligible to earn STAR$ under CapitaStar.

Ion is a big shopping centre with 941,700 square feet floor area and 663,000 square feet retail space. On the fourth floor of the Ion Orchard is a 5,600 square foot art and exhibition gallery known as ION Art. As part of this concept, Ion Orchard mall will have sculptures and media installations, and year-round art shows at the ION Art Gallery and other places within the mall.

ION Orchard’s observation deck, aptly named ION Sky, is located on the 55th and 56th top floor or what some call rooftop of the building. Standing at a staggering height of 218 metres, it offers a truly panoramic and breathtaking view of Singapore city. ION Sky opening hours are between 4-8pm from Tuesday to Thursday, 2-9pm on Friday and Saturday, and closed on Sunday and Monday. To get there, you will need to take the Orchard Ion Sky Lift which is different from the regular lifts in the shopping centre.

If you are going to Ion Orchard by MRT, you can alight at Orchard MRT Station (NS22 / TE14) which is the nearest MRT to it.

If you are going to Ion Orchard by bus, you can take one of the following bus numbers: 106, 143, 175 and 502.
